The Commission has received an application from Coopers Brewery Ltd for the transfer of the current electricity generation licence of Sustainable Energy Infrastructure Pty Ltd. Coopers Brewery Ltd seek to take over the operation of a 4.4 megawatt natural gas generating plant located at Regency Park.

The Commission has received an application from Coopers Brewery Ltd for the transfer of the current electricity generation licence of Sustainable Energy Infrastructure Pty Ltd, in accordance with the Electricity Act 1996 (Electricity Act). Coopers Brewery Ltd is seeking to take over the operation of a 4.4 megawatt natural gas generating plant located at Regency Park.
In assessing an electricity licence transfer application, the Commission considers the application against the relevant licensing provisions set out in the Electricity Act. It will also have regard to its primary objective under the Essential Services Commission Act 2002, being the protection of the long-term interests of South Australian consumers with respect to the price, quality and reliability of essential services, and other factors as they apply to the Commission’s role as an economic regulator of the South Australian electricity generation industry.
In making its assessment, the Commission consults with other regulators, including the Office of the Technical Regulator, which has regulatory roles in the electricity generation industry.
The application submitted by Coopers Brewery Ltd is subject to a public consultation period closing on 5 May 2022. Interested parties wishing to make a submission on the application should prepare a submission, which addresses the criteria noted above.
