The Public Interest Disclosure Act 2018 (PID Act) commenced on 1 July 2019, replacing the Whistleblowers Protection Act 1993.

The new laws strengthen transparency and accountability in government by creating a scheme that encourages and facilitates the appropriate disclosure of certain public interest information to specified persons or authorities. It provides protection for persons who make an appropriate disclosure of public interest information in accordance with the PID Act and sets out processes for dealing with such disclosures.

Public interest disclosures may be made about risks to public health or safety and/or to the environment and/or about potential corruption, misconduct and maladministration in public administration.

For more information about the PID Act and the disclosures that can occur under it, please visit the OCPSE website.

To make a public interest disclosure in respect of the Commission, specific Commissioners, employees, contractors or consultants, please contact the Commission’s PID Act Responsible Officer  by telephoning (08) 8463 4444 or free call 1800 633 592, or in person at Level 1, 151 Pirie Street Adelaide SA 5000.
