On 24 March 2022, the Commission varied SA Water’s electricity generation licence, authorising the operation of a solar photovoltaic, battery energy storage system, biogas and diesel generating plant at the Christies Beach Waste Water Treatment Plant, located at Lot 2 Hunter Road, Christies Beach, with a generation capacity of 10.691 megavolt amperes, a registered capacity of 9.374 megawatts and a maximum export level of 8.5 megawatts.

The Commission undertook a round of public consultation in relation to the application and received no submissions from stakeholders.

The Commission assessed SA Water’s application for an electricity generation licence against the relevant provisions of the Electricity Act 1996 and the Essential Services Commission Act 2002 and determined that all relevant criteria under those Acts have been satisfied. It has therefore approved the application.
