On 13 August 2024, Como Glasshouse No 2 Pty Ltd notified the Commission that it wished to surrender its electricity generation licence. In providing this notification, Como Glasshouse No 2 Pty Ltd requested that the six-month notice period required by the Electricity Act 1996 be shortened. The Commission considered this request and agreed to shorten the required period of notice, with the surrender effective from  27 September 2024. 

Application history

On 15 April 2019, the Commission issued an electricity generation licence to Como Glasshouse No 2 Pty Ltd to operate multiple conventional gas and diesel generating plants, with a total combined export capacity of 4.95 megawatts, located at Korunye.

The Commission undertook a round of public consultation in relation to the application and received no submissions from stakeholders.

The Commission assessed Como Glasshouse No 2 Pty Ltd’s application for an electricity generation licence against the relevant provisions of the Electricity Act 1996 and the Essential Services Commission Act 2002 and determined that all relevant criteria under those Acts have been satisfied. It has therefore approved the application.
