REPS Codes
The Retailer Energy Productivity Scheme (REPS) commenced on 1 January 2021 and is established pursuant to Part 4 of the Electricity (General) Regulations 2012 under the Electricity Act 1996 and Part 4 of the Gas Regulations 2012 under the Gas Act 1997. Amendments to the Electricity (General) Regulations 2012 and Gas Regulations 2012 were gazetted on 26 November 2020.
The REPS Code is made by the Commission pursuant to s 28 of the Essential Services Commission Act 2002 (ESC Act).
The REPS Code establishes requirements on energy retailers in relation to their REPS obligations, including:
- the obligation to achieve allocated energy productivity targets and priority group energy productivity targets,
- record-keeping and reporting obligations in relation to energy productivity targets and priority group energy productivity targets, and
- compliance and audit obligations in relation to energy productivity targets and priority group energy productivity targets.
