Water industry guideline No 2 (WG2/01) will provide for the collection, allocation and recording of certain business data by SA Water, to be reported to the Commission in accordance with the requirements and proformas specified in the Guideline.

Water industry guideline No 2 will provide for the collection, allocation and recording of certain business data, to be reported to the Commission in accordance with the requirements and proformas specified in the guideline. 

While all water licensees will ultimately be required to report on their performance in a manner specified by the Commission, water industry guideline No 2 (WG2/01) will only apply to SA Water in the first instance, with consultation to occur with other entities prior to the release of a draft guideline applicable to them.

We will use the data collected under water industry guideline No 2 to monitor SA Water’s performance in meeting set service standards.  The data collected under water industry guideline No 2 will form an important input into our water industry annual performance report.

We sought submissions on a draft of the guideline, which was released on 16 November 2012.  No submissions were received.

Although no formal submissions were received, some additional guidance and clarification has been included in the final version of the water industry guideline No 2 and accompanying explanatory memorandum.  Version WG2/01 will commence operation on 1 January 2013.
