Approval granted for electricity generation licence application – IBA Wilpena Solar Pty Ltd

On 30 January 2019, the Commission issued an electricity generation licence to IBA Wilpena Solar Pty Ltd as Trustee for IBA Wilpena Solar Trust for the operation of a diesel and solar generating plant with a nameplate capacity of 0.54 MW.
On 7 March 2019, the Commission, together with the Minister for Energy and Mining, approved IBA Wilpena Solar Pty Ltd’s request for an exemption from the requirement to hold an electricity retail and distribution licence under the Electricity Act 1996 (Electricity Act).
The Commission assessed this application against the relevant provisions within the Electricity Act and the Essential Services Commission Act 2002 and determined that all relevant criteria under those Acts have been satisfied. It has therefore approved the application.
