On 30 January 2019, the Commission issued an electricity generation licence to IBA Wilpena Solar Pty Ltd as Trustee for IBA Wilpena Solar Trust for the operation of a diesel and solar generating plant with a nameplate capacity of 0.54 megawatts (MW).

On 7 March 2019, the Commission, together with the Minister for Energy and Mining, approved IBA Wilpena Solar Pty Ltd’s request for an exemption from the requirement to hold an electricity retail and distribution licence under the Electricity Act 1996.
