Approval granted for electricity generation licence variation – Origin Energy Electricity Ltd - Archived

On 17 November 2021, the Commission varied the electricity generation licence to Origin Energy Electricity Ltd for the replacement of the gas turbine Unit 3 at the Quarantine Power Station on Torrens Island. This is the second stage of a four stage upgrade at the site. The result of this upgrade will increase the capacity of the Unit 3 turbine from 20.4 megawatts (MW) to 29.5MW.
The Commission assessed this application against the relevant provisions within the Electricity Act 1996 and the Essential Services Commission Act 2002 and determined that all relevant criteria under those Acts have been satisfied. It has therefore approved the application.
