Overview

The Commission has received an application from Infigen Energy Markets Pty Limited for an electricity generation licence to operate a solar and wind generating plant with a total nameplate rating generating capacity of 362.4 megawatts (MW) (consisting of 150MW for solar generation and 212.4MW for wind generation),  with an overall maximum output capacity of 270MW. The generating plant will be located at the Port Augusta Renewable Energy Park facility, eight kilometres south of Port Augusta at Lot 48 Road, Yongala. 

The Commission has received notification and supporting documentation from Infigen Energy Markets Pty Limited confirming its change of name from Infigen Energy Markets Pty Limited to Iberdrola Australia Energy Markets Pty Limited.

On 8 December 2021, the Commission issued an electricity generation licence to Iberdrola Energy Markets Pty Limited for the operation of a solar and wind generating plant, with a total generating capacity of 309 megawatts (MW), and maximum export limit of 270MW. The generating plant will be located at the Port Augusta Renewable Energy Park facility, eight kilometres south of Port Augusta.

The Commission undertook a round of public consultation in relation to the application and received no submissions from stakeholders.

The Commission assessed Iberdrola Energy Markets Pty Limited’s application for an electricity generation licence against the relevant provisions of the Electricity Act 1996 and the Essential Services Commission Act 2002 and determined that all relevant criteria under those Acts have been satisfied. It has therefore approved the application.
