On 25 January 2023, the Commission, with the approval of the Minister for Energy and Mining, pursuant to section 80(1) of the Electricity Act 1996 (Electricity Act), granted Goyder Wind Farm Common Asset Pty Ltd an exemption from the requirement to hold an electricity transmission licence.

The exemption authorises the operation of a transmission line connecting the Goyder Wind Farm, located approximately 20km south of Burra, South Australia, to the ElectraNet Robertstown substation. The Goyder Wind Farm will be owned and operated by the related entities Goyder Wind Farm 1 Pty Ltd and Goyder Wind Farm 1B Pty Ltd. The transmission line is approximately 33km long.

The Commission undertook a round of public consultation in relation to the application and received no submissions from stakeholders.

The Commission assessed Goyder Wind Farm Common Asset Pty Ltd’s application for an electricity transmission licence exemption against the relevant provisions of the Electricity Act and the Essential Services Commission Act 2002 and determined that all relevant criteria under those Acts have been satisfied. It has therefore approved the application.
