The Essential Services Commission is looking for a professional, driven and capable leader to join our executive team in the position of Executive Director, Digital Transformation. The position

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Executive Director will provide professional leadership, management, support and advice across the Commission on issues relating to data, information and technology.

You will lead the Commission’s digital and information system transformation program, encompassing governance, cultural change, internal and external stakeholder engagement and operational delivery. You will be a member of the Commission’s Leadership Team, and provide strategic advice and guidance within that context to support the Commission and its work.

You will be suitably qualified and motivated to join a team that is focused on protecting South Australian consumers’ long-term interests. You will have a strong sense of ethics, exercise sound professional judgement in decision-making and be open to innovation and creative thinking. You will have proven capability to engage internally and externally, with the ability to forge and maintain strategic relationships.

Together with your team, who you will lead and develop, you will:

  • monitor, manage and maintain data, information and technology systems, processes, strategies and services to support delivery of the Commission’s work
  • establish data, analytics and information systems that support ethical and data-informed regulatory decisions and continuous improvement, while ensuring efficient information and cyber security-compliant processes, and
  • manage and evaluate the Commission’s information management framework, ensuring the efficient and appropriate administration of corporate records in accordance with applicable legal requirements.

The Commission 

The Commission is a statutory authority established as an independent economic regulator and advisory body, with the objective of protecting the long-term interests of South Australian consumers with respect to the price, quality, and reliability of essential services. We add long-term value to the South Australian community by meeting that objective through independent, ethical and expert regulatory decisions and advice.

Our role incorporates licensing, consumer protection, service standards, pricing, monitoring, compliance and public reporting in the water, electricity and gas industries, and access regulation of essential ports and rail infrastructure. We also provide advice and conduct Inquiries to inform the South Australian Government on economic and regulatory policy issues, and provide advice to local government.
