The Commission has received an application from District Council of Orroroo Carrieton for a variation to its water retail licence for the provision of a community waste water treatment system located in the Orroroo township.

The Commission has received an application from District Council of Orroroo Carrieton in accordance with the Water Industry Act 2012 (Water Act). The licensee is seeking to vary its water retail licence to allow for the provision of a community waste water treatment system located in the Orroroo township.
In assessing a variation, the Commission considers the relevant licensing provisions set out in the Water Act. It will also have regard to its primary objective under the Essential Services Commission Act 2002, being the protection of the long-term interests of South Australian consumers with respect to the price, quality and reliability of essential services, along and other factors as they apply to the Commission’s role as an economic regulator of the South Australian water and sewerage service industry.
In making its assessment, the Commission consults with other regulators, including the Technical Regulator, SA Health, the Environmental Protection Authority and the Department for Environment and Water, which have regulatory roles in the water and sewerage service industry.
The application submitted by District Council of Orroroo Carrieton is subject to a public consultation period closing on 11 August 2020. Interested parties wishing to make a submission on the application should prepare a submission, which addresses the criteria noted above.
