The Commission has received an application from Select Utilities Pty Ltd, trading as Factor UTB, for a water retail licence in accordance with the Water Industry Act 2012  (WI Act). The applicant is seeking to operate a sewerage network located in Angle Vale.

In assessing a water retail licence application, the Commission considers the application against the relevant licensing provisions set out in the WI Act. It will also have regard to its primary objective under the Essential Services Commission Act 2002, being the protection of the long-term interests of South Australian consumers with respect to the price, quality and reliability of essential services, and other factors as they apply to the Commission’s role as an economic regulator of the South Australian water and sewerage service industry.

In making its assessment, the Commission consults with other regulators, including the Office of the Technical Regulator, SA Health, the Environmental Protection Authority, and the Department for Environment and Water, which have regulatory roles in the water and sewerage service industry.

The application submitted by Select Utilities Pty Ltd is subject to a public consultation period closing on 3 October 2024. Interested parties wishing to make a submission on the application should prepare a submission, which addresses the criteria noted above.
