Overview

The Commission has received an application from Vicinity Energy Services Pty Ltd for an electricity generation licence for the operation of the following three generating plant:

  • a 1.325 megawatt (MW) solar generating plant located at Colonnades Shopping Centre
  • a 4.355 MW solar generating plant located at Elizabeth Shopping Centre, and
  • a 2.127 MW solar generating plant located at Castle Plaza Shopping Centre.

Final

On 23 April 2020, the Commission issued an electricity generation licence to Vicinity Energy Services Pty Ltd for the operation of the following three generating plant:

a 1.33 megawatt (MW) solar generating plant located at Colonnades Shopping Centre
a 4.36 MW solar generating plant located at Elizabeth Shopping Centre, and 
2.39 MW solar generating plant located at Castle Plaza Shopping Centre.

The Commission undertook a round of public consultation in relation to the application and received no submissions from stakeholders.

The Commission assessed Vicinity Energy Services Pty Ltd’s application for an electricity generation licence against the relevant provisions of the Electricity Act 1996 and the Essential Services Commission Act 2002 and determined that all relevant criteria under those Acts have been satisfied. It has therefore approved the application.
