On 14 February 2018, the Essential Services Commission issued an electricity generation licence to Peterborough Solar Farm to enable the operation of a solar generation plant with a total maximum export capacity capped at 4.9MW.

The Commission assessed Peterborough Solar Farm’s application for an electricity generation licence against the relevant provisions of the Electricity Act 1996 and the Essential Services Commission Act 2002 and determined that all relevant criteria under those Acts have been satisfied.

Peterborough Solar Farm applied for an electricity generation licence on 9 November 2017. The Commission undertook a round of public consultation in relation to the application and has reviewed and considered the submissions received. In making its assessment, the Commission also sought technical advice from the Australian Energy Market Operator and the Technical Regulator.
