On 12 March 2025, Monash 2 Pty Ltd notified the
Commission that it wished to surrender its electricity generation licence. In
providing this notification, Monash 2 Pty Ltd requested that the six-month
notice period required by the Electricity Act 1996 be shortened.
The Commission considered this request and agreed to shorten the required
period of notice, with the surrender effective on and from 2 April 2025.

On 12 June 2019, the Commission issued an electricity generation licence to Monash 2 Pty Ltd for the operation of a 1 megawatt solar PV generating plant, located at Monash.
The Commission undertook a round of public consultation in relation to the application and received no submissions from stakeholders.
The Commission assessed Monash 2 Pty Ltd’s application for an electricity generation licence against the relevant provisions of the Electricity Act 1996 and the Essential Services Commission Act 2002 and determined that all relevant criteria under those Acts have been satisfied. It has therefore approved the application.
