Retailer Energy Productivity Scheme (REPS) 2021 - Archived
24 Sep 2020
The Retailer Energy Efficiency Scheme (REES) is proposed to be replaced by the Retailer Energy Productivity Scheme (REPS) from 1 January 2021.
The South Australian REES Review Report, which was tabled in Parliament on 5 February 2020, recommends that South Australia should continue to have a scheme from 2021.
The Department of Energy and Mining (DEM) is working on a regulatory and administrative framework to commence the Retailer Energy Productivity Scheme (REPS) from 1 January 2021.
In preparation, the Commission is working closely with DEM to manage the transition to the new scheme. To give effect to the implementation of the proposed REPS, the Commission is reviewing the REES Code and Guideline. The Commission will be seeking input from stakeholders on the Draft REPS Code and Guideline, following the finalisation of the regulatory and administrative framework by DEM.
In addition, the current REES system and target setting processes will be updated to accommodate the change from REES to REPS. Once targets for 2021 have been set by the Minister for Energy and Mining, the Commission will communicate with stakeholders and request any information needed for target setting purposes.
While the Commission is the proposed administrator of REPS, its functions will only commence following finalisation of the regulatory framework. For questions on the proposed REPS to apply from 1 January 2021, please email [email protected].
