The Commission has made a final decision to amend the Electricity Transmission Code TC/09.1 (Code) to apply a Category 1 reliability standard to a new transmission network exit point at Mount Gunson South.

Mount Gunson South is approximately 150km north of Port Augusta. It will supply the OzMinerals Carrapateena Mine facility, and is expected to be energised in May 2019.

ElectraNet Pty Ltd (ElectraNet) intends the Mount Gunson South exit point to be temporary. It will supply the Carrapateena Mine until a permanent exit point, with greater capacity, is established.

In October 2018, ElectraNet wrote to the Commission to propose a Category 1 reliability standard for the new exit point. This is the lowest reliability standard provided for in the Code, and is consistent with that applying to other single-customer transmission exit points.

OzMinerals has confirmed that a Category 1 reliability standard is acceptable and consistent with the connection agreement between it and ElectraNet.
