Improvements to technical standards in the National Electricity Rules (Rules) mean that some of the Essential Services Commission’s (Commission) 2017 model licence conditions for new generators may be redundant. 

The Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) has provided to the Commission updated advice on which of the technical licence conditions for new generators should be retained or removed. 

The Commission is seeking stakeholder comment on the potential removal of certain conditions. We invite written submissions by 12 July 2019 and would be pleased to meet with stakeholders for a briefing upon request.
