Surrender of electricity generation licence – Astronergy Solar Australia Pty Ltd

On 3 December 2024, Astronergy Solar Australia Pty Ltd notified the Commission that it wished to surrender its electricity generation licence. In providing this notification, Astronergy Solar Australia Pty Ltd requested that the six-month notice period required by the Electricity Act 1996 be shortened.

The Commission notes the request was made in order to take advantage of the class exemption granted by the Commission from the requirement for sub-5 megawatt (MW) generator operators to hold a licence. Astronergy Solar Australia Pty Ltd will continue to operate its sub-5MW generating plant. 

The Commission considered this request and agreed to shorten the required period of notice, with the surrender effective on and from 10 December 2024.
