Approval granted for electricity generation licence application – Blyth Battery Pty Ltd

On 16 July 2024, the Essential Services Commission approved the issuing of an electricity generation licence to Blyth Battery Pty Ltd (ACN 663 615 263) as trustee for the Blyth Battery Trust (ABN 86 483 340 404) for the operation of a 200MW battery energy storage system, located approximately 7km west of the township of Blyth.

The Commission assessed this application against the relevant provisions within the Electricity Act 1996 and the Essential Services Commission Act 2002 and determined that all relevant criteria under those Acts have been satisfied. It has therefore approved the application.
