Performance summary for 2021-22
In 2021-22, SA Power Networks did not meet the target and also exceeded the reporting threshold for the following service standard:
- percentage of interruptions for Rural Long feeders exceeding four hours.
For this standard, SA Power Networks had a performance of 34.9 percent against the target of 30 percent and reporting threshold of 32.5 percent. The 30 percent service standard target was based on SA Power Networks’ average historical performance over 10 years ending 30 June 2019.
As SA Power Networks did not meet the above service standard target and exceeded the reporting threshold, the Commission recommends that SA Power Networks review its ongoing performance in this area. The Commission will consider trends in performance, when it reviews SA Power Networks’ achievement against service standards in 2022-23.
2020-21
Performance summary for 2020-21
In 2020-21, SA Power Networks did not meet the target and exceeded the reporting threshold for the following service standards:
- duration of interruptions (normalised USAIDI) for CBD feeders,
- percentage of interruptions for CBD feeders exceeding one-hour, and
- percentage of interruptions for Rural Long feeders exceeding seven hours.
For duration of interruptions for CBD feeders, SA Power Networks had a performance of 23 minutes against the target of 15 and the reporting threshold of 20. This is an existing service standard carried over from the previous regulatory determination. The target was set to maintain historical performance.
The 15-minute service standard target was based on SA Power Networks’ average historical performance over 10 years ending 30 June 2019.
For the percentage of interruptions for CBD feeders exceeding one-hour, SA Power Networks had a performance of 14.5 percent against the target of 11 percent and reporting threshold of 13.5 percent. This is a new service standard that commenced on 1 July 2020. The target was set to maintain historical performance. The 11 percent service standard target was based on SA Power Networks’ average historical performance over 10 years ending 30 June 2019.
For percentage of interruptions for Rural Long feeders exceeding seven hours, SA Power Networks has a performance of 13.1 percent against the target of 10 percent and reporting threshold of 12.5 percent. This is a new service standard that commenced on 1 July 2020. The target was set to maintain historical performance. The 10 percent service standard target was based on SA Power Networks’ average historical performance over 10 years ending 30 June 2019.
As SA Power Networks did not meet the above service standard targets, the Commission recommends that SA Power Networks review its ongoing performance in this area. The Commission will consider trends in performance, when it reviews SA Power Networks’ achievement against service standards in 2021-22.
