The Retailer Energy Efficiency Scheme (REES) which ran from 1 January 2009 to 31 December 2020, has been replaced by Retailer Energy Productivity Scheme (REPS).
The Commission carries out its functions as scheme administrator of the Retailer
Energy Efficiency Scheme (REES) in accordance with a Retailer Energy Efficiency
Scheme Code (REES Code), made by the Commission under section 28 of the Essential Services Commission Act 2002 (ESC Act).
The REES Code establishes requirements on energy retailers in
relation to their REES obligations, including:
- the obligation to achieve allocated energy audit targets, energy efficiency
targets and priority group energy efficiency targets;
- record-keeping and reporting obligations in relation to energy audit
targets, energy efficiency targets and priority group energy efficiency targets;
and
- compliance and audit obligations in relation to energy audit targets, energy
efficiency targets and priority group energy efficiency targets.
