2004-05 Urban Water Pricing Processes Inquiry
Pursuant to section 35(1) of the ESC Act, the Treasurer referred to the Commission an Inquiry into 2004-2005 Urban Water Pricing Processes. In undertaking the Inquiry, the Commission considered a document "Transparency Statement - Urban Water Prices in South Australia 2004-05" dated January 2004.
On 26 February 2004, pursuant to section 35(1) of the Essential Services Commission Act 2002 (the Act), the Treasurer referred to the Commission an Inquiry into the processes that led to the Cabinet decision on prices that SAWater would charge for water services in 2004-05. The Commission was required to assess whether the processes complied with the 1994 CoAG pricing principles agreed to by all governments as the basis for water and wastewater pricing.
In March 2004, the Commission released an Issues Paper to facilitate public consultation on the Inquiry.
Publications
On 7 April 2004, the Commission forwarded to the Treasurer the "Final Report - Inquiry into 2004-2005 Urban Water Pricing Process".
As required by the Act, the Final Report was tabled in both Houses of Parliament on Tuesday 1st June 2004.
