On 7 February 2018, the Commission varied The Flinders Ranges Council water retail licence to separate its operations into two water retail licences; one licence for the provision of sewerage services to the township of Quorn and the other licence for the provision of sewerage services to the township of Hawker.

The Commission assessed The Flinders Ranges Council’s applications against the relevant provisions of the Water Industry Act 2012 and the Essential Services Commission Act 2002 and determined that all relevant criteria under those Acts have been satisfied.

The Flinders Ranges Council applied to the Commission on 31 October 2017. The Commission undertook a round of public consultation in relation to the application and received no submissions from stakeholders.
