22 Sep 2016
The Commission has released its final report on the review of the Electricity Transmission Code. The amended Code (designated TC/09) will apply on and from 1 July 2018. The Commission's reasons for the amendments are set out in the final decision paper.
The key amendments to the Code, which will take effect on 1 July 2018, are designed to:
- Further enhance the outcomes-based nature of the reliability standards, and
- Protect consumers from unnecessary capital improvements to the transmission network, in the face of uncertain long term electricity demand estimates.
The Electricity Transmission Code (designated as TC/09) has been varied in accordance with section 28(2) of the Essential Services Commission Act 2002 and will apply from 1 July 2018.
